A Carmi man has a court date thanks to a DUI Carmi Police charged him with late Saturday night. The report filed by Carmi authorities alleges 28 year old Skylar Anderton attempted to stop at Stewart Street while traveling on Burrell and due to the snow, skidded across Stewart and into the large ditch nearby Bradshaw Park. The accident happened just before 11:30pm. Field sobriety tasks were initiated and Anderton was subsequently arrested. There were 3 other occupants in the vehicle including 22 year old Morgan Combs, 24 year old Andy Vaughan, and 24 year old Madison Wheeler. None of them reported injuries and were able to find another way home. Cherry Street Auto was called in to tow Anderton’s Jeep Cherokee. Carmi Police kept a video of the field sobriety test and a blood sample taken at Hamilton Memorial Hospital as evidence.
Also over the weekend, Carmi Police detained 48 year old Brian Dartt late Sunday night at 604 Sycamore in Carmi. Carmi Police say Dartt was picked up for warrant arrests including Criminal Trespassing and Disorderly Conduct. His bail was set at $750 and Dartt had a first appearance scheduled for Monday morning. Court records indicate Dartt is due back in front of Judge Scott Webb Wednesday for a bail review.
