Just after 10am, officers arrested a man and woman following a traffic stop on counts of obstructing justice after they lied to police about the
woman’s identity. 31 year old Stanley Griffin of Carmi and 24 year old Misty McFarland of El Paso, IL were placed into custody after McFarland provided a fake name that was confirmed by Griffin. Once arresting officers discovered McFarland’s true identity, it was found that she was wanted on an active warrant in Woodford County. Both Griffin and McFarland are being held without bail pending a hearing in White County Court.
Police are investigating two separate reports of stolen bicycles that were received Tuesday night. Michelle Johns reported to the Department at 5:22pm that three bikes were taken from her residence on Fair Street and Jana Bayless reported at 8pm that her daughter’s bicycle was taken from her carport on 11th Street.
22 year old Harley Palmer of Enfield is facing a charge of retail theft after it was alleged that she was making false price tags at the Walmart in Carmi. Store employees say they caught Palmer putting lower priced tags on higher priced merchandise while working at the store. Palmer was taken into custody at 10:45pm Tuesday and was processed at the White County Jail and released after posting a $150 bond.
At 4:23am Wednesday morning, police arrested 35 year old Jeremiah Bruns of Carmi following a stop at the intersection of Seventh and Stewart Streets. Bruns was charged with driving on a suspended license and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. Bruns was released from the White County Jail after posting a $150 bond.
