Carmi Police Arrest Harrisburg Man after Carmi Fest Incident Saturday, Pick Up Enfield Man on Drug Charges

A Harrisburg man, who was refused access to the Carmi Fest Saturday afternoon made a scene and now faces multiple charges after Carmi Police caught up with him.  According to authorities, 68 year old Leonard Gauthier Jr. was refused access to the concert after attempting to bring in a cooler.  The man and his wife then opted to leave the event angry, proceeding to rip up their concert tickets and throwing them about the grounds while returning to his vehicle.  On his way out, Gauthier allegedly disobeyed traffic directors and leaving at a high rate of speed, nearly hit multiple vehicles head on before swerving into the walk path, running over a dozen traffic cones.  He would take 4 of them with him as they became trapped under his 2012 Lincoln.  Police say he refused to stop, but was later caught east of the Enfield intersection.  Gauthier faces charges of Reckless Driving, Improper Display of Registration, and Littering.  Officers gave Gauthier citations and released him on his way.
