Carmi Police and White County Sheriff’s Department Arrests

42-year-old Dennis Wingo was arrested by the Carmi Police on August 3rd for Theft Under $500 for not paying for his gas. Dennis was later released on a Notice to Appear citation.

Carmi resident Sherry Sturgal was arrested for Criminal Damage to Government-Supported Property. On August 4th, Sturgal ran over a pedestrian crossing sign in her White Ford pickup truck and failed to report the incident. After being arrested for the charge, Sturgal informed the responding officer that she was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident and that all the alcohol she consumed that morning took place before the accident. Sturgal would later perform a breath test indicating her blood alcohol concentration to be above twice the legal limit.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

An Eldorado man was sent to the White County Jail this past week. Robert Harrelson was noticed by a White County Sheriff’s Officer driving 86 miles per hour. When the officer pulled Harrelson over and asked for his driver’s license, he stated he did not have one and it had been revoked. After that, Harrleson was arrested for Driving While License Revoked. A licensed passenger with Harrelson left the scene with the truck.

Another White County Sheriff’s Deputy encountered a speeding individual on Illinois Highway 14. Norris City resident Matthew Smith was driving a whopping speed of 101 miles per hour when police caught him. Smith was pulled over and his registration was found to be expired, and he was suspended for no insurance. Smith was transported to the White County Jail for Reckless Driving and was released on a Notice to Appear citation.

Lastly, Jerry Lamont was arrested for his active White County warrant for the offense of Violation for Pretrial Release Conditions and was taken to the White County Jail.
