The regular meeting of the Carmi Lions Club held on July 30 had some special guests from the Patriot Riders of America, with a presentation from Frank Haught.
The Patriot Riders of America is a nonprofit organization that assists veterans with reintegration and other financial needs. They have several events every year, including a flag burning ceremony and a Christmas party that is free for veterans to attend. Frank explained that they meet every third Saturday at 10 AM at the annex building of the Nazarene Church and that you do not have to be a motorcyclist to join the organization. They also accept junior members. Dues are $30 for anyone interested in joining, or if you would like to make a donation you can reach out through their Facebook page.
In a closed session the following week, the Lions voted to partner with Patriot Riders of America to put on a community breakfast on October 19 from 7-10am. The Club has historically held monthly breakfasts to support not only their own fundraising efforts, but those of other community organizations, as well. While August will be a “month off” for the club, they resume breakfasts in September.
All of the meals are FREE for kids 5 and under, with a cost of $5 for all other attendees that purchase a ticket in advance. There will be all-you-care-to-eat pancakes, sausages, biscuits and gravy. Tickets may be purchased from Lions Club members or at the door of the event. Tickets are $6 at the door.
The public is invited to join the Club in supporting Patriot Riders of America on Saturday, October 19, 2024, from 7am-10am. Our Lions Den address is 305 1st St.
