Carmi Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce a new date for this year’s annual Carmi Fireworks Show. It was brought to the Chamber’s attention early to mid-May that the pyro technician that was booked for the annual show would not be able to set off the planned event due to a legal issue facing the State of Illinois who is not issuing pyrotechnic licenses to out of state vendors currently. Unfortunately, our vendor was based in Indiana, which prevented him from operating in Illinois this Fourth of July.
Chamber Executive Director Megan Newman said, “While it is sad to break away from the annual 4th of July fireworks show, we are relieved that we were able to find another, in state, vendor in such short time who could accommodate the same show that was booked with the out of state vendor. Unfortunately, the show had to be on a different date due to the unforeseen circumstance with the State and scheduling conflicts with our new pyro technician.” We acknowledge this will be a change for the citizens of Carmi and all who enjoy the annual tradition of having fireworks on the fourth, but we are happy that we can still have a worthwhile show for all to enjoy.
The show will take place on Saturday, June 29th at around 9:00PM – 9:15PM and the show will be set up at the White County Fairgrounds, infield just as it always has been so everyone can still enjoy their favorite firework viewing spot just on the weekend before the holiday.
Carmi Chamber Executive Director along with the board of directors would like to thank, City of Carmi officials, Police Chief Carter, Fire Chief Ballard, Sheriff Weiss, EMS, and fairground leaders for all coming together to work with us to make this show happen in such a short amount of time for our wonderful community. We truly could not have done it without them and their wonderful teams. We hope everyone remains safe and has a very Happy 4th of July holiday.
