Located at 213 7th Street, just behind the new Carmi Police Department, the girls at the Carmi Compassion Center are working fervently to get ready for the changing seasons and needs of the community. Tina Youngman, explains the organization’s aim.
The store is chock full of items members in the community certainly need. With the poverty level over 15% in White County, that number comes out to about 2,122 individuals who are below that qualifying income line. Youngman says the needs are constant and they aim to be able to help people in a variety of situations.
Youngman says they need maternity clothes right now and also men’s shoes specifically. The days for community to both donate and/or shop are the same but broken up into different time frames.
You can find the Carmi Compassion Center on facebook and send them a message for additional details or to ask any specific questions. Find the page here… https://www.facebook.com/Carmicompassioncenter/
Youngman says a coat drive is being planned for later in November.
