Carmi City Council to Gather Tuesday for Busy but Mostly Procedural Meeting

Carmi City Council will have a busy but mostly procedural meeting when they gather for their first of two November meetings on Tuesday, November 7^th. Pay requests surrounding infrastructure improvements are on the agenda. Additionally, Mayor Jeff Pollard will ask council for authorization to seek sealed bids for the sale of excess property. Council is also expected to discuss and make plans for annual Christmas bonuses for city employees. Council meets on the 1^st and 3^rd Tuesday of each month at 5:30pm from council chambers located behind the light and water office at 225 East Main Street. Approve October 17, 2023, Council Meeting Minutes.
For council consideration, discussion and possible approval:

a. Pay Request: Kieffer Brothers Construction for $15,126.54 6^th Street Sanitary Sewer Replacement (Paid from NEU Funds).

b. Change Order #22-074-02; Water System Improvements – 2020-IEPA Portion, Kieffer Bros. Construction, decrease of $549.00.

c. Pay Request: Kieffer Brothers Construction for $189,453.60 Water System Improvements (Paid from IEPA loan).

d. Pay Request: Brown and Roberts, Inc. for $9,126.05 IEPA Portion Water Systems Improvement C&O #2 (Paid from IEPA Loan)

e. Pay Request: Wiggs Excavating, Inc. Rt 1 Sanitary Sewer & Watermain Replacement for $5,000.00

f. Change Order #23-072; Rt 1 Sanitary Sewer and Watermain Replacement, Wiggs Excavating, Inc.; an increase of $3641.34 (IDOT will pay).

g. Pay Request: Wiggs Excavating, Inc. Rt 1 Sanitary Sewer & Watermain Replacement for $18,530.00 (IDOT will pay).

h. IDOT Request for Approval of Change of Plans for deduction to final field measured quanities – Sierra Bravos Contractors, LLC

i. IDOT Engineers Payment Estimate, Sierra Bravo Contractors, LLC for $55,570.47 (Paid from MFT).

j. Pay Request: Brown and Roberts, Inc. for $2,419.02 Burrell’s Woods Park Roadway Construction – Invoice #5 Billing Period 09/28/2023 to 10/31/2023.

k. Holcomb Foundation Engineering – Soil Borings and Water Main Design Sycamore Street $2,218.50.

l. Mayor Pollard will ask council for authorization to seek sealed bids for the sale of excess property: 2005 Domatex Flo Trend Sludge Mate Trailer 15 Cubic Yard, VIN#: 1D9PD19265H443207- SOLD AS IS. NO WARRANTY. Minimum bid is $20,000.00. Bid information may be picked up at the City of Carmi starting Tuesday, November 7, 2023 at 8 a.m.

m. Christmas bonuses for City employees and Light & Water employees (Previously given $60.00 plus $5.00 per year of longevity for full-time employees and a flat $60.00 for part-time employees and firemen).
