Carmi City Council Held First Of Their Two Monthly Meetings Tuesday

The Carmi City Council met for the first of their two monthly meetings on Tuesday evening. City Attorney Greg Stewart kicked off the meeting with administering the Oath of Office for newly elected  Lacey Bradshaw to begin her 4 year term on the board. Jeremy Courson and Mark Blake who ran unopposed were also sworn in.  Bradshaw was appointed as co-chairman on the airport building as well as the water and sewer board.

The council approved to move the July 5th to July 11th due to the July 4th holiday and a resolution for a temporary road closure for Corn Day activities starting Friday October 13th through the 15th .  The board also approved a pay request for Brown and Roberts in the amount of $26,129.10 for the Burrell’s Woods Park Roadway Design Engineering Bill and a second pay request for Brown and Roberts in the amount of $19,917.70 for the Bradshaw Park Drainage Design Engineering Bill. Lastly the board approved a resolution renewing the employee safety incentive program for the period of April 1, 2022 to March 31st, 2023.

Mayor Jeff Pollard talked about the new speed bumps that were put on Illinois Street. Pollard said they will stay down through the summer but will be removed after all summer activities are over.

There were no reports from standing committees and no business or comments from visitors.

An executive session was held with no action to follow.

The Carmi City Council meets on the first and third Tuesdays of each month.
