The Carmi Chamber of Commerce is busy preparing for it’s 80th annual dinner and awards night. The business community will gather on Monday, October 7th at the Carmi VFW. In anticipation, Chamber Executive Director Megan Newman has released details and a nomination invitation for awards including Citizen of the Year, Business of the Year, and Young Professional of the Year.
The Chamber has recognized a Citizen of the Year since 1957 as a way to honor that individual’s good deeds and community spirit. The Business of the Year award began in 2010 with Large and Small categories based on number of employees. In 2020, the award was consolidated to a single division. The Young Professional Award is the newest an ddates back to 2022 when H.D. Bean Jewelers owner Cody Gottman was the inaugural winner. WROY/WRUL’s Cole Carter was the choice last year.
Letters nominating individuals and businesses can be sent to 225 East Main Street in Carmi or emailed to [email protected]. There’s also a form you can easily fill out at https://form.jotform.com/242245799541162. Nominations must be submitted by September 3rd to be considered.
