Busy Weekend for Carmi Police

A Sunday evening altercation on Herbert Avenue resulted in the arrest of sisters.  Carmi Police say it was about a quarter till 7 when they descended on 102 Herbert in response to a domestic dispute.  Following a short investigation, law enforcement placed both Serena Dunn and Starlett Dunn under arrest charging them both with Domestic Battery.
A bit earlier in the day, Carmi Police arrested 53-year-old Cecilia McKinney of Carmi.  It was just after 3:30pm when officers placed McKinney under arrest on the charge of Criminal Trespass to Real Property.  The report lists two witnesses and says the woman was trespassing at Angie’s Wash and Fold at 501 5th Street.
Police have a suspect named after a complaint was signed at 9am Saturday.  22-year-old Jeremiah Helton reports to Carmi law enforcement that someone stole his 1987 light blue Plymouth Reliant wagon.  The individual named as a suspect was redacted as Carmi Police continue the search for the individual and Helton’s vehicle.
21-year-old Alex Hamilton of Sixth Street in Carmi is under arrest after an accident Friday evening.  According to police, Alex Hamilton was involved in a motor vehicle accident and subsequently transported to Deaconess Mid Town due to injuries sustained.  He has been charged with DUI as well as Reckless Driving.  Additionally, Hamilton has been cited for improper classification of drivers license, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, and improper lane usage.
A Carmi man is due in court for a first appearance in October now after his arrest Friday evening.  It was a quarter after 6pm when officers arrested 40-year-old David Newman at the corner of Sycamore and 6th Street.  Newman was wanted on a Failure to Appear warrant and he would eventually also get a citation for Resisting a Peace Officer.  Online court records indicate Newman is due before Judge Webb on October 21st.
