Bulldogs Baseball Victorious in Regional Opener Thursday Evening

Coach Justin Simmons’ Carmi-White County Bulldog baseball team is advancing to play Benton in regional action.  Weather delayed the Bulldogs matchup with Johnston City Wednesday and the game was moved away from Eckerle Park to Harrisburg.  Devin Rankin pitched 4 and 2/3 innings giving up 4 hits and 4 runs, walking 2 and striking out 4.  Johnston City led 4-3 after 5 innings.  The Bulldogs didn’t panic however and turned to junior Cal York for the final 2 and a third innings.  York walked 2, but didn’t allow a hit and struck out 5 stymieing the Indians from getting anything else going.  The Bulldogs meanwhile plated 5 if the home half of the 5th to run away with an 8-4 win.  The Bulldogs will play Benton next.

The Carmi-White County Lady Bulldogs play Benton at 4pm today.  That game has been moved from a home game for CWCHS to Carbondale.
