The Carmi-White County Lady Bulldog softball team lost a 9 inning heartbreaker at home against Woodlawn Wednesday afternoon by a final score of 3-2.
The Lady Bulldogs scored once in the bottom of the 1st inning when Audrey Upton scored on a sacrifice fly by Alayna Johnson, but Carmi wouldn’t score until the bottom of the 7th when Addi Elliot scored on a wild pitch to tie the game at 2-2 and send the game into extra innings.
Woodlawn scored once in the top of the ninth, and the Lady Bulldogs could not answer.
Mia Evans went 3-4 at the plate.
Mara Serafini went 2-4.
Alayna Johnson went 1-2
Caroline Simmons and Addi Elliot both went 1-4.
The Lady Dogs drop to 2-3 on the year, they’ll have another tough test tonight when they welcome in Gibson Southern from Fort Branch, Indiana.
First pitch is set for 5 PM at Archie Brown Field.
It was also a heartbreaking loss for the CWC Bulldog baseball team Wednesday as they fell on the road against Lawrenceville by a final score of 5-4 in 9 innings.
Carmi jumped out to a 3-1 lead in the top of the 5th thanks to RBI singles by Landon Driscoll and Kade Stockton. Carmi then led 4-2 going into the bottom of the 7th but Lawrenceville was able to score twice to send the game into extras.
Neither team scored in the 8th and the Indians scored once in the 9th to win it.
Caleb Seibers went 3-5 at the plate with a run scored.
Merrick Millhorn went 2-5 with a run scored.
Gavin Holloman went 1-5 with an RBI.
Landon Driscoll went 3-5 with an RBI and a run scored.
Kade Stockton went 3-4 with 2 RBI.
Jaxson Albright went 1-2.
Cade Allen went 1-4.
The Bulldogs fall to 2-2 on the year, they will host North Clay Thursday at Eckerle Park.
