Bulldog Wrestlers Take Down OPH

The Carmi-White County wrestling team defeated Oblong-Palestine-Hutsonville on Thursday at McDougal-Evers Gymnasium by a final score of 47-34.

The night started off at the 175 weight class where Caleb Seibers won by a pin in just 43 seconds.

Fellow senior Nelson Rider pinned his opponent in the 190 weight class in just 42 seconds.

Konner Buchanan received a forfeit at 215 to make the score 18-0 CWC.

In the 285 weight class, freshman Laeden Vargas trailed 8-3 before pinning his opponent in 5:28 to put the Dogs up 24-0.

Connor Benham received a forfeit at 113 to make the CWC lead 30-4.

Kale Wiggins was aggressive in his match, pinning his opponent in the 138 weight class in 3:38.

Freshman Jazz Duckworth won the race for the quickest pin of the evening, he pinned his opponent in the 144 weight class in just 20 seconds to make it 41-22 Carmi.

Senior Joey Shaffer capped off the night an impressive :21 pin in 157 to give the Bulldogs the 47-34.

The Bulldogs wrestlers will have 6 days off as they travel to Lynnville, Indiana next Wednesday to take on Tecumseh.
