The Carmi-White County Wrestling team defeated Fairfield on the road Thursday night, 46-36.
Luke Bolerjack started off the night by pinning his opponent in the 126 weight class in 1:58.
Madden Anderson then pinned his opponent in the 132 weight class in just 20 seconds.
Kale Wiggins won his match in the 138 weight class 11-2, giving Carmi a 16-0 lead.
Fairfield then pulled off 4 straight wins to take a 24-16 lead.
Then, in the 175 weight class, Caleb Seibers pinned his opponent, who was ranked as the #9 wrestler in the state of Illinois, in 1:58 to cut the Fairfield lead to 24-22.
Then at 190, Nelson Rider pinned his opponent in 49 seconds to give the Bulldogs a 28-24 advantage.
The Mules claimed the 215 match to take the lead right back at 30-28.
Gavin Peyton then pinned his opponent in the 285 weight class in 2:59 to make it 34-30 Bulldogs.
Fairfield answered back, taking the 106 match to take a slim 36-34 lead with only 2 weight classes to go.
Conner Benham was able to put the Bulldogs back in front with a pin in the 113 weight class in just 23 seconds. Carmi took a 41-38 lead into the final winner-take-all match.
Travor Mason was able to pin his opponent in just 40 seconds to seal the thrilling win for the maroon and white.
The Bulldogs improve to 16-5 on the season.
The Bulldogs will travel to Johnston City on Tuesday night for the Black Diamond Conference meet.
