The City of Carmi would like to take the opportunity to remind the community that building permits are required by ordinance for new construction, remodeling when rooms or porches/decks or garages are being added, yard barns and carports and any time the ground is disturbed such as planting a tree. There is no charge for these permits, which help protect City utilities. A permit application may be obtained by calling the City Clerk’s office at 618-384-2001.
