Browning Behind Bars on Third Trespassing Arrest in just over 8 Months

A Carmi man with a history of alleged trespassing is back behind bars this morning on fresh charges.  47-year-old William Browning is lodged in the White County Jail awaiting a hearing in White County court after Carmi Police arrested him at 2:07am Friday.  The latest incident occurred at 203 Burrell Street.  Browning resides on 6th.  Already this year, Browning has been convicted of Criminal Trespassing to Land from an incident on March 10th.  In that case, he was found guilty, given 2 years conditional discharge, a 6 month stayed jail sentence, and fined.  On March 14th, Browning was charged with Disorderly Conduct and that charge ended up being dismissed.  In October of last year, Browning was arrested for Criminal Trespassing on Land and that charge was dismissed in November.  In April of 2023, Browning was charged with Domestic Battery and subsequently given probation, sentenced to public/community service, ordered into Anger Management, and given a 6 month stayed jail sentence.  That ended up being revoked and Browning spent about 5 months in jail after the October incident.

    Some people will never learn. But when you keep slapping someone’s hand and saying “bad boy don’t do that again” and let them go with ZERO consequences, why would they want to change. Do better Judicial System, do better.

    He does that cause he’s homeless he told me about a yr ago and he’ll keep doing it so he’d have a bed to sleep in
