Brief Meeting For Carmi Council

Carmi Council; Brief Meeting

Wham, bam, thank you ma’am…in 4 short minutes, the Carmi City Council carved their way through a paltry agenda Tuesday late afternoon.  Aside from typical meeting fodder, only two items made the meat and potato of the outline.  An agreement with IDOT for Railway/Highway Grade Crossing Improvements was promptly signed off on.

Mayor Pollard says he hopes they’ll begin work on those railroad crossings in the next couple of months, but as with anything concerning the state, it’s really at their discretion.

Council members also signed off on another pay request from engineering firm Brown and Roberts, this one for construction engineering at the Carmi Airport in the amount of just under $10,000.

Mayor Jeff Pollard says residents will no longer need to go fetch a key to gain access into the city’s compost site.  The city is moving in favor of a coded system.

Additionally, Pollard says the work on the front of the Light and Water building is underway and the pneumatic tube is being installed out front and he expects folks will be able to begin using it in the next day.
