An Enfield woman has been sentenced to the Illinois Department Corrections. On Monday, 42 year old Crystal Bridges was in court after being apprehended on a Failure to Appear for her sentencing hearing on May 2nd. Bridges had previously been convicted of Possession of Methamphetamine, a class 3 Felony, and Retail Theft, a class 4 Felony in August of 2019 and sentenced to two and a half years of probation. Bridges violated her probation in November of 2021. The matter was set for resentencing with May 2nd being a date set for the hearing. After Bridges failed to appear at her sentencing and following the arguments of her attorney, Public Defender Brian Shinkle and State’s Attorney Denton Aud, Judge T Scott Webb sentenced Bridges in her absence to 9 years and 11 months in the IDOC, a month less than the maximum allowed under the law.
The Carmi Police Department was the original arresting agency that arrested Bridges in August of 2019
