A Bone Gap teen is behind bars at the White County Jail awaiting a bail review following a first appearance in White County court Tuesday. 18 year old Joseph Cotton of Bone Gap was arrested and booked on the evening of March 11th. Online court records indicate he’s been charged with Criminal Sexual Assault a Class X felony along with a Class A Misdemeanor charge of Aggravated Assault/Use of a Deadly Weapon and that the alleged offense happened February 24th. Cotton is being defended by public defender Brian Shinkle while State’s Attorney Denton Aud is listed as the prosecutor. Cotton’s preliminary hearing is set for April 5th. Illinois State Police handled the case/arrest.
