The coaches of the Black Diamond Conference met on Wednesday to discuss the future of the conference’s memberships.
After Vienna-Goreville has failed to field a varsity football team in 3 of the last 4 seasons, the BDC has explored options to find another school to replace the Eagles.
After discussion, the league decided to send an invitation to Red Hill.
The Salukis are currently playing football as an independent, they left the Little Illini Conference in 2022. Red Hill is a member of the Midland Trail and Little Okaw Valley conferences for other sports.
If Red Hill accepts the invitation, the BDC would compose of 10 teams, once again making it a closed football conference. Vienna and Goreville would both stay in the BDC for other sports, but the co-oped football team would be independent.
