A Carlyle Illinois man is free on a Notice to Appear while a Carmi man is behind bars after what Carmi Police call a high-risk traffic stop resulted in their arrests early Sunday morning. It was about 2:20am when officers say they pulled over the pair in the 400 block of South Walnut. 22-year-old Cory Bailey of Carlyle was arrested and charged with Fleeing/Eluding Police. 23-year-old Christopher Bailey remains behind bars. He was arrested on two warrants, one a misdemeanor from this year; the other a 2023 felony. Online court records don’t show details on the misdemeanor; the felony warrant is related to a January 2023 incident in which it appears Bailey took a plea deal. He’s due in court at 10am Monday.
