Area Women Arrested During Traffic Stop

The White County Sheriff’s Department made a traffic stop that resulted in the arrest of two area women. on January 19th, at 1:41 PM, Sgt Craig Poole crossed Plum to Fifth Street after observing a dark colored Kia turn off of Main onto Fifth Street. Poole was behind the vehicle traveling North on Fifth Street until it turned off onto Elm street. Poole ran the plates and they came back to a White 2016 Kia, belonging to Daniel Blake of 311 Locust Street, Carmi.  Poole then initiated a traffic stop. The driver of the vehicle identified herself as 38 year old Sasha E Allen of 412 Rice Street, Carmi. She said that the vehicle belonged to her boyfriend Daniel Blake. When the officer asked for license and insurance, Allen informed the officer that her driver’s license were suspended. There were two other passengers in the vehicle. Nathan Egbert was in the back seat and in the front passenger seat was 56 year old Karen Hogue of NW East Park, Carbondale.  At this time, two officers, officer Lucas and officer Spencer arrived to assist Poole.

Allen was then placed under arrest for driving on a revoked license and was transported to the White County jail. The officer that had transported Allen to the jail, then returned to the location of the traffic stop. Upon arrival, the officer was told by Spencer that Hogue had dropped and broke a glass smoking pipe for cannabis as she got out of the vehicle. During a search of the vehicle, the officers found loose cannabis, more cannabis smoking pipes, tweezers and metal blades. Hogue was then placed under arrest and was transported to the White County jail. Upon arrival officers were informed that Allen had 10 Tramadol pills in her purse upon entering the jail facility and were not in a prescription bottle. A search of Hogue’s purse turned up a container with of less than 10 grams of cannabis and 7 Lorazepams, also not in a prescription bottle.

Allen is being charged with Driving While License Suspended, Possession of Cannabis in a Motor Vehicle, Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia .

Hogue is being charged with Possession of Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia  and Possession of Cannabis in a Motor Vehicle.

All items were taken and placed into evidence. The vehicle was impounded and towed from the scene.
