Area Meetings This Week

The City of Grayville will hold its second regular monthly meeting with a Public Hearing Zoning Request on Monday, February 22nd at 7 PM at City Hall.

 

Due to COVID-19 guidelines, attendance is limited to the members of the Council, Clerk, Treasurer, City Attorney and news media.  The public is invited to watch the meeting and public hearings via Facebook live at www.facebook.com/cityof grayville/  Click on the live video.  Anyone wishing to address the council in person will be asked to notify the City Clerk prior to the meeting.  Those persons may be asked to remain outdoors or in their vehicle until the appropriate agenda item comes up for discussion.  Questions or comments can be submitted by email to [email protected], by fax to 618-375-7869, or by calling City Hall at 618-375-3671.  Comments and questions will be read into the record during the appropriate public comment time for both the Public Hearing and regular City Council Meeting.

 

There will be the usual reports from the Treasurer, Police Chief/Utility Manager, City Attorney, Commissioners and the Mayor, as well as recognition of visitors.

 

There will also be a review of temporary executive powers and disaster declaration and purchase order approvals.

 

An executive session will be held to discuss the purchase or lease of real property for the use of the public body, including meetings held for the purpose of discussing whether a particular parcel should be required; pending, probable or imminent litigation; and the setting of a price for sale or lease of property owned by the public body.

 

In old business is the Liquor Ordinance Amendment, the electric upgrade for the campground, zoning considerations for 209 Court Street – McPherson Outdoors with a resolution authorizing a public hearing, municipal ordinance violations and collection of fines, second reading of an ordinance amending the zoning code to add Special Use to the R-2 District and set a public hearing date, the swimming pool, planting trees, shrubbery of other flora on the Public Right of Way, review sick-leave policy regarding COVID-19 and a request for TIF #1 Funds for Building Preservation – approve the Developer’s Agreement.

 

In new business is the liquor license and gaming license requests, a pre-construction meeting for the water line replacement project, request for a fireworks permit – Westwood Recreation, and an amendment to the golf cart ordinance.

The Carmi-White County Unit #5 Board of Education will meet Monday, February 22nd, at 7:00 p.m. at the Junior/Senior High School cafeteria.

 

Guidance from the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) will be followed. This includes:

 

Attendees must wear a face mask.

Attendees will be required to social distance.

Attendees will be required to self-certify (temperature/symptom check) before entering.

No more than 50 attendees will be allowed in the cafeteria.

The Edwards County School Board will meet tonight.

The NCOE school board will meet Wednesday, February 24th, at 5:00 p.m. at the high school.

The Enfield Village Board of Trustees will hold their monthly meeting on Tuesday, February 23rd, at 7:00 p.m. at the village building, postponed from February 16th, due to the weather.

 

The Board will be practicing social distancing. Please maintain a 6-foot distance between other members of the public. Masks will not be required but you are welcome to wear them.

 

Along with the Treasurer’s report, they will approve payment of bills and adjustments, clear any old business, accept input from any visitors present in the chamber, accept any reports from committee members, the police, utilities and park reports, and new business. An Executive Session may be held and may be moved to any position on the agenda.

The Hamilton County Board will meet Tuesday. The Highway meeting will be at 5:15 p.m. in the jury room next to the old highway office and the regular board meeting will be at 6:00 p.m. in the courtroom.
