Chris Howten of the Hamilton County Economic Development Commission spoke to the board concerning them and the city and county’s efforts to bring retail businesses to the county. The parties have been meeting for the past few months and it was decided that there will be another meeting on August 6th.
The Consent Agenda was approved, which includes a TIF reimbursement to Wuebbels Repair LLC in the amount of $5,313.06; a resolution regarding temporary road closures associated with this year’s Kiwanis Fall Festival; and August 4th to be the last day the City Pool will be open.
They approved the hiring of Don Davis of Carmi as the city’s wastewater operator at a salary of $600 a month.
An ordinance was approved updating the city’s utility rates beginning in Fiscal Year 2025.
An ordinance was approved that changes the due date and late fee assessments to be in compliance with state statutes and the ICC.
And an ordinance was approved that will put into effect a right-of-way licensing agreement with Frontier Communications, where they agreed to wording changes in the contract. Frontier will not be allowed to do any work after 5 PM and are liable to pay for repairs for any damage they cause.
The city audit will be presented at next month’s meeting.
There has been a renewal of the sewer project line of credit of $325,000.
In the Police report, the department will look for a K9 officer the first week in August, an officer will be returning on Monday, and their trainee will graduate from the academy on August 9th and appear at next month’s council meeting.
