Alleged Battery of a Child Lands Carmi Man Behind Bars

During the early morning hours Sunday, Carmi Police say they were called to a Sixth Street home in reference to an altercation.  The incident report indicates 37-year-old Daniel Newman was engaged in an argument with his girlfriend 30-year-old India Batty when he struck a 3-year-old child in the head with a door.  Newman was subsequently arrested and is being charged with a Class 2 Felony of Aggravated Battery of a Child.  Body cam footage from the officer and photos of the child’s injury have been submitted as evidence in the case.  There’s no word this morning on the child’s condition.

I’d suggest a domestic violence case but since mine I’ve had to put up with the same individuals pulling the same stunts. Threats & coercion for someone MY children are not related to by blood. 11 years and counting…NOT INTERESTED in him.

Oh shut it Sarah. You barely take care of your kids at all. Hardly even bathe them. You shouldn’t have had any to begin with. You’re methed up.
