8-Run 7th Inning Helps Dawgs Sweep Eldorado

The Carmi-White County Bulldog baseball team swept Eldorado in a doubleheader Tuesday afternoon, winning 10-6 and 13-3.

In Game 1, the Bulldogs faced off against Eldorado’s Parker Price on the mound. Bulldog fans have gotten used to hearing that name as Price has been a 4-year starter for the Eagles in every sport he plays. Price has committed to play college baseball at Kaskaskia, and the lefty showed the Bulldogs why.

Price struck out 16 Bulldog batters and only allowed 1 hit through 5 and ⅓ innings of work, but he was forced to come out of the game after 108 pitches with the Eagles leading 4-2 going into the 7th inning.

With Price now off the mound, the Bulldogs looked like a different team at the plate.

Gavin Holloman started the 7th inning with a leadoff double, followed by a single from Landon Driscoll then a walk from Mitchel Edwards loaded the bases with nobody out.

Trayton Vickers then delivered with a 2-run RBI single to tie the game at 4-4, scoring Holloman and Driscoll.

The very next batter, Zack Roark lined one down the left field line that would plate two more runs and out of nowhere, the Bulldogs led 6-4 and nobody was out in the inning.

After Travor Mason and Cade Allen both got on base via the walk, the bases were loaded once again for Caleb Seibers. Seibers crushed one to the right center field wall, clearing the bases with a triple, but on a bad throw to third base, Seibers was able to come around and score as well.

The Bulldogs plated 8 runs in the top of the 7th inning, and that was enough to get them the win in Game 1, 10-6.

Landon Driscoll got the win on the mound, going 6 and ⅔ innings and allowing 6 runs on 6 hits and 3 walks with 6 strikeouts.
Travor Mason pitched the final ⅓ inning after Driscoll exceed the pitch count limit, he allowed just one hit and one walk and struck out the final batter of the game.

At the plate,
Caleb Seibers: 1-for-3, 3 RBI, 1 R
Gavin Holloman: 3-for-4, 2 R
Landon Driscoll: 1-for-3, 2 R
Trayton Vickers: 1-for-4, 3 RBI, 1 R
Zack Roark: 1-for-4, 2 RBI, 1 R

In Game 2, the Bulldogs picked up where they left off, scoring 7 runs in the bottom of the 1st inning.

Carmi struck first when Caleb Seibers reached on an error that scored Travor Mason, then an RBI single by Gavin Holloman, an RBI triple by Merick Millhorn, an RBI double by Mitchel Edwards, an RBI groundout by Trayton Vicker, an RBI single by Zack Roark, and an RBI single by Cade Allen put the Dogs ahead 7-0 after 1 inning of play and they never looked back.

Carmi scored 3 more times in the bottom of the 3rd inning thanks to RBI doubles by Seibers and Holloman, and a Sacrifice Fly by Milhorn to extend the Bulldogs lead to 10-0.

Then in the 4th inning, a bases loaded walk by Hayden Saults and a 2-run RBI single by Maxon O’Daniel pushed the Bulldog lead to 13-0, and they went on to win Game 2 by a final of 13-3.
