The Carmi Police Department took a report of theft on Wednesday night. Andy Bartley of Carmi reported that overnight on December 22nd, someone stole a Power Mate Generator from his carport on 4th Street. The report states the value of the generator at under $500.
On Thursday, police stopped 52 year old Thomas Mitchell of Carmi for a center turn lane violation in the parking lot of Rock Bottom Liquors and found he was driving on a revoked license. Mitchell was arrested and transported to the White County Jail, where he was later released after posting a $150 bond.
Early Friday morning, Carmi police received a tip that a wanted man was in a room at the Carmi Motel. When officers arrived, 37 year old Michael Voyles of Olney tried to flee the scene, but was captured by the K9 unit. Voyles was placed into custody at 2:39am. During a consent search of the room, another individual 25 year old Angel Darling of Carmi was placed under arrest after being found in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
Voyles is being held on the Richland County warrant at the White County Jail. In addition, he was charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and resisting a police officer. Darling was charged on the possession of methamphetamine and paraphernalia and is being held without bond pending a court hearing.
On Christmas Day, Kenneth McWhirter reported to Police that a Star Shower Laser Light Projector was stolen from his yard during the night.
Early Sunday morning, Carmi Police arrested a Virginia man for driving on a suspended license. Just after midnight, Wyll C Clark of Red Oak, VA was placed into custody after arriving at the scene of a traffic stop to give another individual a ride. A records check showed Clark’s license to be suspended in his home state and he was taken to the White County Jail, where he posted a $150 bond and was released.
