An opening prayer including hopes for everyone being in a good mood had this reporter expecting fireworks and ready for the worst Tuesday night at the Carmi City Council Meeting. It turned out to be a quick, very congenial meeting with minimal discussion and only two quick ordinance passages.
Both rules rescinded prior injunctions concerning traffic flow and parking in the Robinson, Slocumb, Rice and Jessup Street area. We’ve posted a picture of Ordinance 1494 on our website at wrul.com with this story in the Local News section.
Mayor Pollard noted he’d come across a civilian sifting through work orders a few weeks ago and therefore had keypad door knobs installed on all the rear side offices and doors at city hall. Councilman Mike Knight acknowledged the passing of Elaine Foster, a 45 + year employee of the city and passed his condolences on to her family. Councilman Winkleman echoed those statements and said in the Library Board meeting, they’d decided to close the Carmi Library on Saturday in honor of Foster.
Council adjourned just 12 minutes after coming to order.
