Carmi police arrested 25 year old Michael Hays of Carmi after a traffic stop on Thursday.  At 11:15am, an officer observed Hays driving on Main Street, and initiated a traffic stop knowing Hays had a suspended license.  It was also known that Hays had an active warrant out of Hamilton County for failure to appear.

Once Hays was in custody, a records check showed that Hays was also wanted in Wisconsin for a parole violation.  The passenger in the vehicle, 27 year old Ashley Wilson of Fairfield, was cited for permitting an unauthorized person to drive.  The vehicle was towed from the scene by S&E Towing.

Just before 4:30pm, Carmi Police responded to a vehicle pedestrian collision.  Marty Davidson of Sparta, Tennessee told officers he was eastbound on Main Street and entered the turn lane to turn onto Oak Street, when a pedestrian walked into the passenger side of his van.  Davidson told officers he never saw the juvenile until the collision.  The juvenile said that he did not see the van and was attempting to cross main when he walked into the vehicle.  The juvenile was unhurt, and refused service with the White County Ambulance Service.
