Grayville City Council has short, productive meeting

The Grayville City Council had a short but productive meeting Monday night to close out October.

Scott Irvin was appointed by the Council to be the city’s Utility Department Supervisor on a six month trial basis.  Irvin will receive a one dollar per hour increase in pay with the new title.  The appointment was a unanimous decision by the Council, but still requires union approval.

The Council also unanimously approved a resolution to hold the Grayville Christmas parade on November 28th from 6 to 6:30pm.

A leaf collection box for use with the city dump truck was approved at a cost of $5500.  Commissioner Josh Downs said that the City already owned a leaf vacuum that was not being used, and with the addition of the leaf box, the Street Department will be able to better collect leaves off of city streets.

City Attorney Jay Walden told the Council that the legal proceedings regarding the two dangerous buildings were going smoothly and that steps were continuing to be made for the demolition process.  Walden also informed the Council that changes had been made to the easement agreement with Road Ranger that addressed valid concerns by the property owner.

Commissioner David Jordan informed the Council that the Lions Club would be holding a Community Chowder at the Depot on Saturday beginning at 11am.

The meeting adjourned at 7:26pm and the Council meets again at 7pm on November 9th.
