With Travis Thompson absent for the Monday, November 25th meeting, Commissioner Andi Ford served as Mayor Pro Tempore presiding over a quick summit. Top brass worked through a scant agenda in just 13 minutes with no executive session.
Former Finance Commissioner David Jordan says the rescheduled date for the electronics recycling event is coming up this weekend.
For the council’s benefit, we had to cancel the electronics recycle day on November 9th and it’s been rescheduled for this Saturday from 9am – 11am at the Christian Church.
Grayville resident and Chamber representative Penny Pritchett also made a plea to council for consideration.
Few weeks ago, I was driving on Route 1 coming into town at night and almost hit somebody out there. I’d never paid that much attention to it until I nearly hit the person. I noticed how dark it is out there and I was wondering if it would be feasible to put some lights out there on the east side. It’s just pitch black and there’s not really a good place to walk. I think there’s 8 or 9 poles out there. I called Ameren hoping it could maybe be a state program, but no they said it’s a city thing.
Action was taken on pay requests for the water main improvement and sidewalk replacement in the amounts of $73,126.55 and $1,293.26 respectively.
Council will reconvene in December on the 2nd and 4th Mondays.
