The Carmi-White County Girls Basketball team defeated Lawrenceville last night in their first game of the 2024 season by a final score of 46-16.
Caroline Simmons led the team in scoring with 17 points.
Torrie Rider scored 16.
Addi Elliott scored 6.
Ashlyn Rager scored 5.
Eva Attebury scored 2.
The Lady Bulldogs start the season 1-0. They will take part in the Harrisburg Preview next week.
They will face Eldorado on Monday, West Frankfort on Tuesday, Harrisburg on Wednesday, and Anna-Jonesboro on Saturday. Monday and Wednesday’s games can be heard on 97.3 FM WRUL.
The Carmi-White County Boys Basketball team will begin their season on Tuesday when they host Gallatin County at McDougal-Evers Gymnasium. Freshman will start at 5, JV will start at 6 with Varsity to follow.
The Carmi-White County Wrestling team will begin their season on Monday, as they host Carterville.

In 2A, Farmington will face Chicago Christian, Johnston City will host Maroa-Forsyth.
In 3A, Montini will host Wilmington, Monticello will host Tolono-Unity.
In 4A, Coal City will host Chicago-Depual, Normal U will host Mt. Zion.
In 5A, Nazareth Academy will host Wheaton, Joliet Catholic will host Morris.
In 6A, Geneva will host Cary-Grove, East St. Louis will host Oak Lawn-Richards.
In 7A, Lincoln Way Central will host Batavia, Chicago St. Rita will host Chicago Mt. Carmel.
In 8A, Lincoln Way East will host Loyola Academy, Naperville Central will host Elmhurst York.
The winners of tomorrow’s games will play for State Championships next weekend at Hancock Stadium on the campus of Illinois State University.
