Arrest Made in Judge Murder

State Police Zone 8 agents have announced the arrest of 44-year-old Megan S. Valentine of Albion in connection with the fatal shooting death of her husband, Illinois Second Judicial Circuit Judge Michael J. Valentine.  She’s being held in the White County Jail on charges of First Degree Murder, Aggravated Battery with a Firearm, Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, and Aggravated Domestic Battery.

It was Tuesday, police say, just after 12:14pm when the Edwards County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence in the 100 block of County Road 600 in Albion.  Upon arrival, a deputy observed Valentine’s body laying outside the home and his wife was taken into custody according to the release.

Thursday, agents presented their case to the State’s Attorney Appellate Prosecutor’s Office and charges were officially filed.

Prayers for Megan and her family. Social media says there was domestic violence but the state determine she was not in danger. She appears to have black eyes in this photo. My experience with the “state” in this area is they say there is no problem until someone has been hurt or killed. Did law enforcement and judicial system defer to the “Judge” and allow violence to continue against his wife? Wives don’t kill their husbands unless they feel their life is in danger and there is no other way. This needs to be investigated by people outside the area.

I don’t see a black eye. I see a shadow or maybe leftover mascara that ran or smudged.

Don’t see any black eyes. Maybe she is the abuser

Not judging, but at this point I will say that abuse is mental and/or physical. While physical leaves marks, mental does not. It will hopefully come out in the investigation. There is no need to jump to conclusions unless you actually know something

I don’t see black eyes. I see a poor photograph, shadows and possibly the remnants of mascara.

Fake eyelashes don’t cause discoloration BELOW someone’s eyes. I have no inside information about this situation, and wouldn’t dare speculate what happened… but lets not be disingenuous.

Although I’m not sure, looks like dark circles she couldn’t completely cover. Anybody can have dark circles under there eyes. Or just the wrong angle to see clearly. If there was domestic violence why didn’t she report it to the police.

State police will investigate since he was a seated judge local authorities will not. Having said that, whatever mitigating circumstances are found will be revealed. Prayers for all involved. This is a tragedy for all of them in and including her
