Village of Norris City November Meeting

The Norris City village Board met in its regular session for over an hour Monday night.  Scott Mareing was there and has this report…

Amy Kauffman addressed the board, saying that she had never received the deed to the property she purchased over three months ago.  She said she tried to contact Village Attorney Nathan Roland several times but received no response.  She also spoke with Mayor Skip Land several times but still nothing had been done.  Land and Roland both accepted responsibility, and Land said the deed has been drawn up and signed and it will be filed sometime this week.  He said they would contact her and let her know when it happens.

The village’s Hazard Mitigation Plan was approved.

They will use ACH, or an automated clearing house, to make electronic money transfer payments to the bank.

The body cameras for the Police Department are on order, as they need to be ready for use on January 1st.

The board approved the insurance bill to the USDA Risk Management Agency in the amount of $71,827, which is an increase from last year’s amount of $62,494.

The ICC report on the gas utilities safety inspection found no issues with it.

The board members are to sign and turn in their Sexual Harassment Training documents.

The village should find out next month if they will receive the $356,000 grant for the NCOE ball field complex.

The village was denied a Rebuild Downtown grant.  They’ll apply for it again next year.

They found out the Hydro Spade hydrovac they received was a rental with many more miles on it than it was supposed have.  They terminated their agreement and the board approved the purchase of a new one.

The pickle ball courts are up, along with two basketball courts and one tennis court, and they all have been resurfaced.  After about a 15 minute discussion on who will use them for the next several years, the board finally decided to approve payment of a $14,200 bill for electrical work.

The Christmas Chamber Dinner will be at 5 PM on Tuesday, November 12th at Higher Ground in New Haven.

The Norris City Christmas Parade will be held on Friday, December 4th beginning at 6 PM.  They will use the same route as the Dairy Days Parade, which is from the High School to the Post Office.

Also, the employee’s Christmas Dinner will be on Saturday, December 7th at 5 PM at The Hideout in Marion.

John Melton was given permission to tear down his current home and put in a modular house trailer.

In the Police Report for October, there were 15 reports written, one accident report, 12 traffic stops and warnings, and one citation issued.  There were 42 calls to dispatch.

There was no Animal Control Report for the month.

The board adjourned at 8: 13 PM.

The next meeting of the Norris City Village Board will be on Monday, December 2nd at 7 PM.
