40-year-old Mary Lee Nelson of White County spent Sunday in jail and remained there until she could be seen by a judge Monday following her arrest at a quarter after 1am Sunday. Nelson was pulled over by police at the corner of Elm and 6th Street where she would end up in custody on charges of Possession of Methamphetamine, Unlawful Use of Property, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession of a Controlled Substance. She was also cited for Operation of an Uninsured Motor Vehicle.
A McLeansboro man and a Benton woman were arrested by Carmi Police just before 2am Saturday. Carmi Police say they pulled over 42-year-old Ryan Nalley of McLeansboro and 34-year-old Alyssa Burlison on Oak Street. Nalley is facing charges of Possession of Meth, Unlawful Use of Property, Possession of Cannabis in a Motor Vehicle by Driver, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and later Obstructing Justice for attempting to destroy evidence once inside the jail. He would spend the rest of the weekend behind bars. Burlison was given a notice to appear on a charge of Possession of Cannabis in a Motor Vehicle and released.
