A Carmi man is out following a warrant arrest made Tuesday morning. Police came across 41 year old Gregory Burchfield of William Drive just before 8am at Casey’s and placed him under arrest. The report indicates he was wanted in relation to a 2022 guilty plea for Possession of Meth. In that plea deal, he was sentenced to 2 years of probation, fined, given a 6-month stayed jail sentence, ordered into drug treatment, and his 100 hours of community service was waived. Online court records indicate the warrant was issued Tuesday, almost 2 hours after he was arrested. Burchfield says he accidentally missed two court dates which prompted that warrant. He was released just after 11am Tuesday. He’s next due in court, as of now, on November 25th.
