The Illinois Nurses Foundation recently held its annual 40 Under 40 Emerging Nurse Leaders Award Ceremony on September 19th at the Courtyard Banquets in Warrenville, IL. The Illinois Nurses Foundation established this prestigious award to honor young nurse leaders who are making a significant impact on healthcare and the nursing profession today and who will undoubtedly shape its future.

Rachel Ewing, MSN, RN, FMH Chief Nursing Officer was one of the 40 recipients of the organization’s annual 40 Under 40 Emerging Nurse Leaders Award. The award honors 40 Illinois nurses under the age of 40 on the basis of their achievements in the profession, leadership and community and association involvement.

Rachel has worked at Fairfield Memorial Hospital since 2021 when she was named as the successor for the ED Director position. Many of these projects would not succeed if it weren’t for Rachel’s commitment, knowledge, persistence, and dedication.

Rachel not only shares her knowledge and expertise at the local level but also at the national level by advocating for Fairfield Memorial Hospital at the state capitol.

Rachel advocates for all nurses and positions herself as a leader who seeks opportunities and challenges for hospital improvement. She has built a reputation for being a hands-on leader utilizing the power of presence.
