Hamilton Memorial Hospital Announces New Chief Nursing Officer

Hamilton Memorial Hospital District Board of Directors and executive leadership team are pleased to announce the appointment of Jenee Wilson, RN, as the new Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) of Hamilton Memorial Hospital. Wilson brings extensive leadership and quality experience, enhancing HMHD’s commitment to providing exceptional patient care and advancing clinical excellence.

“We are thrilled to have Jenee step into this role,” shared Victoria Woodrow, Hamilton Memorial Hospital Chief Executive Officer. “Her extensive inpatient experience with a heavy emphasis on patient care and quality aligns with the mission and vision of HMHD and gives us the utmost confidence that she will lead our nursing team with strength and excellence.”

Wilson joined Hamilton Memorial in 2017 as an RN in the Emergency Department. She was promoted to Nurse Manager in 2020 and was appointed Quality and Risk Management Director in 2021.

During her time in this role, Wilson successfully collaborated to create and implement organization-wide Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement (QAPI), drastically improved unusual occurrence incident reporting and analysis through the Just Culture initiative, as well as, led the newly established patient care coordination department, which supports organizational Accountable Care Organization (ACO) efforts.

Wilson has served as the Interim CNO since August 1, 2024. Prior to working at Hamilton Memorial, she spent many years assisting patients in Emergency Departments in both Carbondale and Mt. Vernon.

Throughout her career, Wilson has demonstrated a profound dedication to patient-centered care, staff development, and improving patient outcomes through quality initiatives. Her leadership will be instrumental in improving operational efficiency and fostering a collaborative nursing environment.

Wilson’s hiring comes after an exhaustive committee search process was announced in June following the announcement of the intended retirement of Patty Blazier. After more than 40 years of service, Blazier’s retirement from Hamilton Memorial was effective July 31, 2024

I had to go to the ER last night, and Jenee was my nurse. She took excellent care of me while I was there, and was quick to answer any questions
