An Oak Street woman says someone stole items from her residence. Christina Moeller reported the thievery Wednesday just before noon. She would file complaints for burglary as well as theft under $500. The report doesn’t indicate exactly what items were allegedly taken from the home.
Carmi Police heard from Todd Drone, an employee at Carmi Lumber early Wednesday morning. It was about a quarter till 8 when Drone reached out to authorities. He says two rocks were thrown through windows at the business prompting him to file a Criminal Damage to Property report.
A bit later in the day, law enforcement would make two warrant arrests. At around 6:30pm, an officer found 69 year old Leland Rost at his apartment on Commerce. He was placed under arrest on a Failure to Appear warrant related to a May 8th arrest for Retail Theft. He’s behind bars at the White County Jail awaiting an appearance before a judge. Then, at 10:45pm, cops arrested 38-year-old Caitlin Tyner of 6th Street at the corner of Burrell Street and Lagoon Drive. She was picked up on a Failure to Appear warrant connected to a case that the report indicates dates back to 2022. It was January of that year when Tyner was arrested and charged on a class 4 felony accusation of Theft. In March of 2022, Tyner pled guilty and was sentenced to 2 years of conditional discharge, given a stayed 6-month jail sentence, and ordered to pay restitution. On July 5th of this year, her probation was revoked according to online court records. She’s behind bars awaiting an appearance before a judge as well.
