Clutch Senior HRs Lead Lady Dogs to Comeback Win Over EC

The Carmi-White County Lady Bulldog softball team defeated Edwards County yesterday by a final score of 6-4 in 10 innings.

The Lady Bulldogs couldn’t buy a run in the first 5 innings, as they only had 1 hit and trailed 4-0 heading into the 6th inning.

Carmi was able to plate 1 in the 6th on an RBI by Kadie Simmons, but still trailed by 3 heading into the final inning.

A single by Eva Attebury to start the 7th, followed by a walk to Caroline Simmons brought the tying run to the plate with two outs, and it was senior Audrey Upton. Upton took a 3-1 pitch and drove it over the left field wall to tie the game at 4-4.

Neither team scored in the 8th or 9th.

In the bottom of the 10th, Mara Serafini hit a 2-run walk off home run, her 2nd walk-off homer of the year.

On the mound, Upton allowed 4 runs on 7 hits with 13 strikeouts.

At the plate, Upton went 1-for-3 with 3 RBI and a HR (3).
Mara Serafini went 3-for-5 with 2 RBI and a HR (3).
