Deputies with the White County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to a residence on First Street in Enfield in reference to a Domestic in progress.
Officers noticed an upset woman on the phone, who was identified as Kerri Austin. Kerri told the officers that her and Derek Austin had been arguing for most of the day when it eventually escalated, with Kerri stating that she threw a chair down and other things. Kerri then said that Derek then grabbed her by the neck and forcefully put her on the ground. Officers did notice redness on Kerri’s neck.
Derek Austin was approached by officers and asked to summarize what had happened. Derek explained that he had put his hands around Kerri’s neck and placed her forcefully on the floor to keep her from throwing objects around the house.
Derek was placed under arrest for Domestic Battery.
