The Carmi-White County Bulldog baseball team defeated Gallatin County yesterday afternoon by a final score of 17-7.
Carmi fell behind 3-1 early, but a 6-run 3rd inning helped propel the Bulldogs to victory.
Jeremy Planitz picked up the win on the mound for the Bulldogs, he allowed just 2 earned runs on 1 hit with 3 strikeouts.
At the plate, the Bulldogs were led by Caleb Seibers who went 3-for-4 with 6 RBI and a run scored.
Travor Mason, Maxon O’Daniel, Gavin Holloman, Merick Millhorn, Landon Driscoll and Chad Burnett all picked up base hits.
Hayden Sauls, Cade Allen and Trayton Vickers all scored runs in the Bulldog win.
Carmi-White County improves to 5-0 on the season. They will host Hardin County today at Eckerle Park.
The Carmi-White County Lady Bulldog softball team fell to Lawrenceville yesterday afternoon by a final score of 8-7 in 8 innings.
The Lady Dogs took a 6-1 lead into the 5th inning, but Lawrenceville plated 3 in the 5th and 2 in the 6th to tie the game at 6-6. The game would go into extra innings where the Lady Indians scored 2 runs in the top of the 8th, and Carmi could only answer with 1 in the home half of the 8th inning, falling by a final score of 8-7.
At the plate, the Lady Bulldogs were led by Alayna Johnson who went 2-for-4 with 3 RBI and 2 HR.
Caroline Simmons, Addi Elliott, Audrey Upton, Mara Serafini, Kadie Simmons, Mia Evans and Grace Sneed all picked up base hits
The Lady Bulldogs fall to 2-1 on the season. They will host Carterville today at Bradshaw Park.
