When an expected speaker cancels last minute, you have to pivot and quickly. That’s what the Carmi Kiwanis Club was forced to do Thursday after representatives from Bulldog Systems were forced to withdraw their planned appearance. So instead, the club heard from a trio of sub programs in the form of Megan Newman, the new Carmi Chamber Executive Director, Carmi White County High School Junior Laney York who spontaneously gave a last-minute invitation to the drama department’s presentation of Junie B. Jones the Musical this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, and finally three senior Key Club members who are also White County CEO students.

The CEO Trade Show date has been announced as April 29th from 5p – 7p and with 18 student run businesses, the event will be held this year at the White County Fairgrounds Floral Hall in Carmi. Maggie Gross, the CEO of the White County CEO Class talked a bit about her personal venture.
“It’s called Just In Case Sublimation Solutions and I have an example on me. It’s phone cases, ear pod cases, and then the card holders that stick on the back of your phone case. I have all sorts of different designs; I’m posting those [on my facebook page] and you can also do custom so if you have a picture you send me, that can go on there. I have Carmi White County, NCOE, and I’m working on some more.”
Gross is doing pre-orders so if you like the page, you could actually order and pick it up at the trade show.
Briley Burchfield is launching Bloom Boutique.
“I’m doing hand painted flowerpots and more. Larissa Hays [Kiwanian] already ordered some. So, I’m taking orders now and everything else is like flower related stickers, cactuses and succulents and then a couple more things, but that’s pretty much mine.”
Joseph Gates’ enterprise is Gates Ministries.
“I’m putting together a devotional book written by different members of the community. A fellow Kiwanian, Greg Grant, actually wrote one so Greg’s devotional along with others will be in that and you can get it at the trade show.”
