IHSA Sectional Championships took place over the weekend as we reach the final week of high school basketball in Illinois.
At the 1A NCOE Sectional Final on Friday,
Meridian defeated Waterloo Gibault Catholic 50-41.
Meridian will face Christ Our Rock Lutheran tonight at the IHSA Super Sectional at EIU in Charleston.
In the 2A Benton Sectional Championship,
Benton defeated Breese Central 34-32.
Breese will face Teutopolis tonight at the 2A Super Sectional at SIU Carbondale.
At the 3A Triad Sectional Final,
Centralia defeated Mt. Vernon 49-33.
The Orphans will take on Mt. Zion tonight at the Springfield 3A Super Sectional.
Winners of tonight’s matchups will advance to the IHSA State Finals this weekend in Champaign.
There were a few area high school girls basketball teams in action at the IHSA State Finals this past weekend.
Robinson, the team who defeated Carmi-White County in regionals, brought home 3rd Place after defeating Regina Dominican 51-44 in the 3rd Place game.
Nashville fell to Peoria Notre Dame 48-46 in the 2A State Championship Game on a last second shot.
Okawville defeated Illini Bluffs 48-36 to win their second consecutive 1A State Championship.
