The Carmi-White County girls basketball fell to Robinson last night in the IHSA Fairfield 2A Regional Championship by a final score of 39-31.

It was a back and forth ball game throughout, but the Lady Bulldogs found themselves down by 11 late in the 3rd quarter. Carmi was able to rally and get it within 3 at 34-31 with 6 minutes left to play – but the Lady Bulldogs would not score for the remainder of the game and Robinson would hit their free throws late to hold on for the 8-point victory.

In her final game as a Lady Bulldog, Mara Serafini led the team in scoring with 10 points.
Addi Elliott scored 9.
Caroline Simmons and Ashlyn Rager both scored 6.

The Lady Bulldogs end the season with a 26-6 record, one of the best seasons in CWC girls basketball history.

Congratulations to coach Clinton Wolff and the Lady Bulldogs on an outstanding season, and congratulations to seniors Mara Serafini and Johanna Smith on outstanding careers.

The Carmi-White County boys basketball team will travel to Fairfield tonight to take on the Mules in the Black Diamond Conference Championship Game.

Both teams come into tonight’s game with 8-1 BDC records after Fairfield lost at Flora on Tuesday. Whoever wins tonight will be the outright Black Diamond Conference East Champion.

Fans can watch and listen to tonight’s game on 97.3 FM WRUL and the WRUL Sports YouTube Channel.

Carmi-White County senior Nelson Rider wrestled at the IHSA State Finals yesterday in Champaign. Rider was matched up with the undefeated 2-time reigning 1A State Champion in the 215 weight class, Noah Wenzel from Dakota High School.

Rider gave Wenzel everything he had, but he would eventually be pinned in 3:38.

Nelson still has a chance to place in 3rd or 5th place, he will wrestle again today.
