The Carmi-White County girls basketball team defeated Newton last night in the Fairfield 2A Regional Semifinal by a final score of 41-40.
The Lady Bulldogs trailed by 2 with just 7 seconds left, and sophomore Addi Elliott attempted a game-winning 3 as time expired, but she was fouled. Elliott would make all three free throws to give the Lady Bulldogs the miraculous victory.
Carmi improves to 26-5 on the season and they will play Robinson Thursday night in Fairfield for the Regional Championship Game at 7 PM.
The Lady Bulldogs look to win their first regional crown since 2010.
The Carmi-White County boys basketball team will travel to Lawrenceville tonight to face the Indians. The Bulldogs enter tonight’s game with a 22-6 record, meanwhile Lawrenceville is 24-3.
