The Carmi-White County boys basketball team picked up two wins over the weekend, defeating Hamilton County 45-26 on Friday and Wayne City 71-37 on Saturday.
With the wins, the Bulldogs improve to 22-6 on the season and 8-1 in the Black Diamond Conference. They have two more games left in the regular season, they will travel to Lawrenceville tomorrow night and then travel to Fairfield on Friday for the Black Diamond Conference Championship game.
The IHSA released the boys regional brackets back on Friday, Carmi-White County will play in the Massac County regional. They will host Eldorado in a play-in game next Monday the 19th at McDougal-Evers Gymnasium. If the Bulldogs win, they’ll take on Vienna in the regional semifinals on Wednesday the 21st.
Speaking of regionals, the Carmi-White County girls basketball team will take on Newton tonight at the Fairfield 2A regional. The Lady Bulldogs are looking to punch their ticket to Thursday’s regional championship game.
Fans who can’t make it to Fairfield tonight can watch and listen on 97.3 FM WRUL and the WRUL Sports YouTube Channel. Tip-off is set for 7:30 PM.
Congratulations to CWC senior wrestler, Nelson Rider, he finished in 4th Place in the 215 weight class in Saturday’s IHSA 1A Sectional in Vandalia and he is heading to the State Finals! Nelson will head to the State Farm Center in Champaign on the campus of the University of Illinois on Thursday. Congratulations and best of luck Nelson Rider!
