Open Line ON DEMAND – A Conversation with Author Kandi Davis

Left an orphan at six years old, Kandi Davis grew up in Crossville, IL at her grandparents roadside motor lodge. Seven years earlier, at the Anna State Hospital, Davis’s mother had met her father at what was once known as the Illinois Southern Hospital for the Insane. When Mary Ellen Davis was found dead in 1976 from a self-inflicted knife wound, her family believed it must’ve been suicide. In 2015, Kandi found a tiny article that would take her on a journey searching for the truth. We talk about it all from Davis’s new book, “Out of the Night that Covers Me”. Listen in for much more.
