As Carmi radio station WROY/WRUL News bids farewell to one journalist and broadcaster, it welcomes a fresh, new voice. Following a sudden departure in August, Ray Mitchell stepped up, as he has so many times over the years, to fill in. Mitchell’s warm delivery, friendly nature, and dedicated work ethic will certainly be missed. He’s able to allow himself to return to retirement however because WROY/WRUL will welcome a fresh News Director in 2024. General Manager Jc Tinsley is pleased to welcome Nicole Behnke to head up news operations beginning in January. Behnke is a Carmi native and brings with her a Bachelors in Journalism and Photography. Most recently, Behnke served as the Editor at the McLeansboro Gazette and has honed her professional photography skills as owner of Sara Nicole Photography since 2017. Folks should expect to begin seeing Behnke’s work and hearing her on newscasts by mid or late January.
